Itinerary

  • Day 1: Arrival in Arusha

Upon arrival at Kilimanjaro International Airport (JRO), you’ll be warmly welcomed by your safari guide and transferred to your lodge in Arusha. This charming town lies at the base of Mount Meru and is the perfect starting point for your adventure. After check-in, take some time to rest or explore Arusha’s bustling streets, colorful markets, or nearby coffee plantations. Later, your guide will provide a detailed safari briefing. Enjoy a delicious dinner and a relaxing overnight stay at your lodge.

  • Day 2: Arusha National Park – Return to Arusha

After breakfast, drive to nearby Arusha National Park for a day of game viewing and nature exploration. The park offers a mix of lush forests, alpine meadows, and volcanic scenery. You’ll have the chance to see giraffes, buffaloes, monkeys, flamingos, and Mount Meru’s impressive backdrop. If available, opt for a ranger-guided nature walk to experience wildlife up close. After a picnic lunch, continue your game drive before heading back to your lodge in Arusha. Enjoy a restful evening and prepare for the journey ahead.

  • Day 3: Arusha – Tarangire National Park

After an early breakfast, depart Arusha and travel to Tarangire National Park, known for its large elephant herds and iconic baobab trees. Begin your game drive upon entering the park, watching for giraffes, lions, impalas, zebras, and over 500 bird species. The Tarangire River serves as a magnet for wildlife, especially during the dry season. Break for a picnic lunch in the park before continuing your exploration. In the late afternoon, head to your lodge or camp in or near the park for dinner and overnight.

  • Day 4: Tarangire – Karatu

Enjoy a morning game drive in Tarangire, taking advantage of the cooler hours when wildlife is most active. Capture some final views of the park’s unique landscapes and herds before exiting. After lunch, drive toward Karatu, a picturesque town located in the fertile Ngorongoro Highlands. Stop along the way for cultural visits or local market browsing if time allows. Arrive in Karatu in the afternoon, check in at your lodge, and relax. The evening is yours to enjoy the cool mountain breeze and peaceful surroundings.

  • Day 5: Karatu – Ngorongoro Crater – Serengeti National Park

After an early breakfast, drive into the Ngorongoro Conservation Area and descend into the Ngorongoro Crater for a spectacular game drive on the crater floor. This natural amphitheatre is home to a wide variety of wildlife, including lions, elephants, hippos, and the rare black rhino. After a picnic lunch by the hippo pool, continue your journey to Serengeti National Park. Enter the park in the evening and enjoy a game drive en route to your lodge or camp in central Serengeti—dinner and overnight in the wild.

  • Day 6: Full Day in Serengeti National Park

Spend your first full day exploring the Serengeti’s vast plains. Begin with a sunrise game drive — a prime time to witness predators hunting and the savannah coming to life. Visit different zones of the park, depending on wildlife movement and the season. Your guide will help you track big cats, elephants, buffaloes, and possibly witness parts of the Great Migration. Break for a picnic lunch in the bush, then continue your afternoon drive before returning to camp for dinner under the stars.

  • Day 7: Another Full Day in Serengeti

Enjoy a second full day in the Serengeti to deepen your wildlife experience. Explore new areas, track animals you’ve yet to see, or spend time observing your favorites. You might encounter cheetahs lounging in the sun, hyenas patrolling their territory, or wildebeest grazing in massive numbers. Take time to appreciate the unique rhythms of the ecosystem. Whether you’re near rivers, open plains, or acacia-dotted valleys, the Serengeti always delivers. Return to camp for your final overnight stay in the park, sharing stories around the fire.

  • Day 8: Serengeti – Karatu

After a relaxed breakfast or optional early game drive, begin your return journey through the Ngorongoro Conservation Area, enjoying more wildlife sightings along the way. You may opt to visit a Maasai village for a cultural experience or stop at Olduvai Gorge, a famous archaeological site. Arrive back in Karatu in the late afternoon. Settle in at your lodge and enjoy your final safari evening in the highlands, surrounded by serene landscapes and cool breezes.

  • Day 9: Karatu – Arusha / Kilimanjaro Airport (JRO)

After breakfast, begin your return drive to Arusha. Pass through scenic countryside and vibrant villages along the way. Upon arrival, enjoy a farewell lunch or quick shopping stop for local souvenirs if time permits.
